I love a good brooch. Pins, my favorite piece of jewelry. I don’t know why. I think because they stand out among other jewels. Anything else, rings, necklaces, bracelets, tiaras and earrings require a body part to make them work. Brooches do not. A brooch looks great on a jacket or a pillow. It doesn’t need your chest to be a work of art and beauty. Then I love the versatility of the design. Brooches can be small, large, tall, flat, in a variety of colors and shapes. How could you not love them? I realize lately, pins are not as popular as they used to be. In the 1990’s a simple aesthetic took over and has lasted in jewelry as far as brooches are concerned. So…….
In an effort to continue to streamline my wardrobe I am looking over my costume jewelry. Today, I’m going to post photos of my pin collection. I must admit, I love pins. I am a pin addict. I wish they were more readily available in stores than they currently are. The ones that are found are usually of such cheap quality. In the following photos you can see all the pins I own. I think that as I pair down my pin collection I will show you photos of what I have kept. Some of my pins I will resell, some I will keep in storage, and then some I will still wear.
Some of my pins are vintage, some new purchases, and some are from family members.
In all honesty, I don’t think this is my complete “collection” either. I think a may have a few more in my basement. I am currently cleaning out my storage room down there. If I uncover anymore I will put them in a future post, either here or on Instagram. Not following me on Instagram? Look for thenorthernstarblog in the search function.
Do you wear pins? Do you have a favorite? Let me know in the comments.
