my capsule wardrobe reality: What I wore out

It’ s time for another wrap up of my attempt at a capsule wardrobe. As I said in the last post, I have gotten rid of a few pieces of clothing I really didn’t like. I remember when I bought them. It was something that you buy not because you are totally in love with it or even like it. It’s a piece of clothing you buy because it is the best you can do at that time. This is something that I think we all deal with. Well, most of us anyway. The hardest part for me was my change of four dress sizes in three weeks. It wasn’t expected. I went to so many stores when that happened just to get anything that fit. That I think is one of the reasons I wanted to try a capsule wardrobe finally. I’ve found a few online retailers and physical retailers in my size. I am on my way to getting a wardrobe I want.

So that brings me to the of wearing my capsule wardrobe. Summer is beginning to wind down up here. I am looking at the fall and winter side of my wardrobe and want to get into it. I don’t know if I am going to buy anything in fall. I suppose I don’t NEED to, but what if I find something I really want. I think I will allow myself to get it. I have to really love it is something I need to remind myself. Sort of like I did with my floral Keds. I had my eyes on those for two years. (Check on Instagram)

I am also going to show you what I have for bracelets. I have a lot of bracelets. I definitely need to wind them down a bit. Weeding out my accessories is definitely one space that needs attention. Right now I am just going through them. Seeing what I have. Here are a few of the looks I’ve done over the past few weeks:

Here I am in my black cotton t-shirt and pants with a jean jacket. Pants are LL Bean, Shirt is Woman Within, and jacket is an older one by LLBean. My necklace is Joan Rivers.
Checking out local murals for something to do during lock down. My cotton/spandex t-shirt is by JJill, my jacket is by Eddie Bauer, and jeans are by Woman Within.
My shoes are by Keds, my caridigan is by LLBean, my tank top is Christopher and Banks. Jeans are Soft Surroundings.
My shirt is by Old Navy, Jeans by Woman Within, T-shirt is LLBean and shoes are Tieks.
My jacket is Walmart, and my shirt is Old Navy.
My coat is a few seasons ago from Target, my tennis shoes are DSW shoes {brand NIKE].

Most of my other days are spent in just the same jeans or black pants and a t-shirt. These days are from the times I forced myself to get out of the house and do something. Even then, I don’t wear a lot of different things. I’m not going out to eat or on any date nights. Right now, with more cases on the rise I try not to go out at all.

I’ve started the cull of my fall and winter wardrobe. There is one top that I keep taking in and out of the donate bag. It is a more formal top. I’d wear it to work or out to a restaurant. It looks okay, I’m not in love with it, but I don’t have anything else similar to it. That makes me want to keep it. A just in case top for under my suit. The suit I keep for weddings, funerals and the like. Maybe I’ll post a photo to my Instagram with it.

I promised you bracelets. Here is what I have:

Some of the bracelets I have purchased over the years.

Some old favorites and new purchases.
Some more name brand costume jewelry and a few fun pieces.
A few bracelets from Kinsley Armelle and Charming Charlie from last year.
The last few. As you can see, I have a bracelet problem.

As future posts go I will update which bracelets I have gotten rid of and which ones I’ve kept in the new year. Do you have an accessory issue in your wardrobe? I hope you enjoyed your update on my journey to trying to build a capsule wardrobe. There is still a lot to do, but I’m getting there.
