My Favorite Skincare Products (and I have sensitive skin!)

I have to admit, I’m jealous. I have always been.  I’m jealous of those among us who are able to wear and use perfumed products.  I used to look at Bath and Body works or Victoria’s Secret in envy.  I could purchase the spray then use it only on the outside of my clothes but the lotions and shower gel was off limits.  I’d want to scratch my skin off within the first two seconds of application.  It was awful.  It feels worse than having 20 mosquito bites.  I also developed in the last several years a chemical sensitivity as well.

As a result, I’ve learned to apply scent purposely and sparingly.  Scent doesn’t only come in the form of a perfume bottle.  It also is in many of the items we use on a daily basis. I’m going to tell you what I use to keep my skin in shape without irritating it.

Starting off with soap I use all fragrance free products. I have found Target brand fragrance free body wash or Aveeno fragrance free shower gel.   I have also gone to several craft shows and am able to purchase soaps and scrubs with natural fragrance. I love the smell of Almond, Vanilla, and others like that.  If I want to use a more formal soap I can use Aveeno, Neutrogena, Basic, Cera Ve, Eucerin, Sappo Hill, and others made from olive oil, goat milk, shea butter and other natural ingredients.

I have found a new company called Brooklyn Botany.  It is, of course, in Brooklyn, New York City, USA.  I looked at their ingredients list and they have no fragrance or parfum (perfume) in their scrubs. So I decided to give it a try and ordered it from Amazon. I love their brown sugar scrub. It’s the first scrub that I am able to use that isn’t irritating AND in a scent I love.  The brown sugar smells so good!  It is also very moisturizing.  Check them out.

Lotions have always been difficult for me. Sometimes even the unscented ones caused my skin irritation. Which is why I am glad that I found Eucerin.  It is my daily go to for body and hand lotion.  This year my arms, for some strange reason, needed a bit more help.  So I purchased Cere Ve.  It really helps my dry, irritated skin.  It is extremely thick so it takes a lot longer to be absorbed by your skin. That’s the only downside.

The next group of products I absolutely love.  The Simple line of products is sold at Target. Their face wash is the only one I use.  I keep one bottle in the shower and a second one near my sink.  In addition to being non-irritating the price point can’t be beat!

I am also a convert to Garnier Micellar Cleansing water.  About two years ago I started using it.  It gets off makeup so well.  I love it more than any other makeup remover product out there. Believe me I’ve tried a few!  You can even use it as a face wash to cleanse your skin if you are in a pinch.  Use a cotton pad for application.  I learned about the in loo of face wash from my favorite makeup and skincare podcast “Forever 35.”

I also use Ora’s Amazing Herbal Unscented Body Powder. I found this on Amazon. It comes in several natural scents. I love it and I don’t smell like an infant. Definitely, a plus.

Now we are getting down to the more specific skin care items. For my face I like to use two items depending on the condition of my face.  If I am having a normal skin day I use First Aid Beauty’s Facial Moisturizer.  If my skin is starting to get dry or has suffered a lot of stress I use Boscia’s Tsubaki Beauty Oil.  Sometimes I combine the two together.  They mix well together.  I also like to use Boscia’s Correction blemish stick with Willow Bark Extract.  I use that for any pimples that occasionally pop up.  I wish I had this treatment when I was a teenager.  I had horrible acne to my mid-thirties.  This helps clear up any spots that pop up by drying them up quickly within a few days. I normally get Boscia from Sephora stores, but they are no longer carrying them.  So far the store clerk says they can be purchased through Sephora’s website.

For my neck I use No. 7 Protect and Perfect Serum.  I heard about this from The Wendy Willams Show. I was looking to find something to help my wrinkles that are starting to form on my neck. I think it really helps to make my neck appear better.  It’s not too harsh which I love.

My eye cream is also from First Aid Beauty.

And finally, for lip balm my favorite is Eos Shea Sphere Lip Balm in Honey Apple.  Ooooh I love this scent!  It’s non-irritating, smooth and moisturizing.  My other favorite lip balm is by Burt’s Bee’s.  I love the coconut and pear scent and the ultra conditioning unscented one too. The ultra conditioning is so soft and smooth.  It really hydrates well.  If a family member needs a lip treatment and has chapped lips I used old fashioned Carmex lip treatment.  I helps repair lips quickly and provides protection from cold and wind. I use it as more of a treatment for those in this house who shun lip balm usage.

So here they are.  My list of body and face treatments that I use.  I have sensitive skin, so I hope I’ve given others out there new items to try.  Remember you don’t need to have sensitive skin to use it!  Theses items can be found on Amazon, in Ulta beauty, Sephora, Walgreens and Target.  Give them a try!  Do you have a must have beauty fav that you want to share?  Let me know below.
